Woodrow Smith joined Star Career Academy’s team here in Egg Harbor in 2015. At the early age of thirteen, Woodrow became a dishwasher and eventually learned how to meal prep from a positive male role model who was a seasoned chef.  Soon after, Woodrow attended a vocational high school for commercial foods, and fell more in love with the art of cooking.  Post graduation, Woodrow enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country, and also to seek his culinary profession. After about a year in the Army, Woodrow enrolled in the Academy of Culinary Arts.  Working hard alongside his professors, Woodrow became the president of the Culinary Student Association.

Three months after graduating, Woodrow was offered a job at the Mirage in Las Vegas, where he had the opportunity to work in various kitchens with different foods including French, Italian, Steak, and Seafood. After six years at the Mirage, Woodrow’s next stop was for a motion picture catering company called Coast to Coast.  While there, Chef Woodrow had the opportunity to work for actors and crew members on movie sets.  Woodrow also worked for various catering companies before finding his “home”.
Set on a marina on the Delaware River, Curtains Wharf, a beautiful open-air restaurant, became Woodrow’s home where he worked as Head Chef for 17 years. Looking to take a step back to give back to others, Woodrow began his journey to look into post-secondary education.

Currently, Woodrow has joined the Star Career Academy Team and is optimistic about his future as part of the team.
